The Power of The Word of God PDF Print E-mail

The greatest Power in the whole universe is the Word of God. In Genesis 1, we see that God Spoke the universe into being. His powerful words "let there be" brought forth & created substance from nothingness. John 1.1-3 tells us that "In the beginning was The Word, & the Word was with God, & The Word WAS GOD.The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him;& without Him nothing was made, that was made.

Verse 14; the Word was made flesh, & dwelt among us....Jesus Himself is The Word that God spoke to bring creation into being-with the birth of Jesus, The Word came in human flesh-the all-powerful King of Heaven came to live with mankind.

The most powerful agent for discipleship in our lives is the living Word of God. It is still through the Spoken Word, the Word in action, that God moves in & through our lives to show His Creative Power.

Jesus' words in John 8.31 are of prime importance to every believer. "If you continue in My Word, then you are My disciples indeed;& you shall know the TRUTH, & the truth shall MAKE YOU FREE. Each of us need to allow Jesus, The Living Word, to speak into our lives, into our spirit, our mind, our will & emotions. We need to spend time reading, studying,& meditating on God's Word, praying that the Holy Spirit will bring the Truth -His revelation into our hearts-the knowledge that God wants you to walk in freedom, set free from sin, failure, fear, doubt, want, sickness; the devil wants you bound-but the Word has come to set you free.

John 15.7 "If ye abide ( dwell continually, permanently remain) in me,& my words abide in you ,ye shall ask what ye will, & it shall be done unto you." That word "abide" is so important. God's Living Word wants to make it's home within us, so that in every circumstance that we face, His Truth will fill our minds, come out of our mouths, & guide our every action. In Hebrews 11.1, we are told that Faith is being sure of what we hope for,& certain of what we do not see.In other wise, Faith ( which comes by hearing the Word) is believing the powerful promises in the Word, standing on those promises, whatever the circumstances throw at us in the natural realm, & confidently trusting that God's Spoken Word, will create & bring our unseen "hope" e.g healing, provision, into being. Reinhard Bonnke once said these incredible words.....The Word in our mouth is just as powerful as The Word in God's mouth. Think about that! Galatians 3 .5 says "Does God give you His Spirit & work miracles among you because you observe the (old) law, or because you Believe what you heard?" When you believe the Word of God without compromise, hell trembles.

God sends forth His Word with Power. Hebrews 4.12 states: For the Word of God is living & active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul & spirit, joints & marrow; it judges the thoughts & attitudes of the heart. No other power is able to divide between a man's soul & spirit. Only the discerning power of His Word is able to reach these hidden depths. Sin is exposed, our hearts are searched; our motives uncovered. Every Christian should seek to move onwards- not to stay inexperienced "milk-drinkers" of the Word (see Hebrews 5.13-14) but to train ourselves by constant use of the Word of God to become mature-to understand our covenant rights-to speak out our blood- covenant promises- to experience the great power of the Word in our own & others lives.

Isaiah 55.11 tells us that the Word is sent out from God's mouth; it will not return to Him empty, but will always accomplish what He wants it to do (His Will ) & it will always prosper. The Word, in this context, is a messenger sent out from God to fulfil His purpose & His Will. If you allow God's Word loose in your life, you are accepting a messenger whose purpose is to come & preach salvation, healing, provision & wholeness to your life. Jesus himself is the Word. We see here, the likeness to Jesus' ministry on earth. He was the messenger from heaven through whom God spoke to us-He did not return to God empty, but accomplished everything the Father sent Him to us for. His all-powerful Blood is sprinkled before the Fathers sight as a continual reminder of our redemption;we are overcomers who reign with Jesus, the Word, in the heavenly realms, far above the rulers of the devils defeated kingdom.

To live a fruitful spiritual life, you must abide in the Word of God allowing the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual ears & eyes so you can clearly hear what God is saying to you because only the Truth can set you free. Hearing God's Word & Doing it, is the most important principle of the life of Faith. ( James 1.21-25) Spiritual ignorance is caused by scriptural ignorance. Lack of power is caused by lack of knowledge; not knowing who you are in Christ; not realizing that God's authority is now given to you through declaring His Word.

The following speak of the active Word.

Psalm 119.105. Revelation & direction.
Ephesians 5.26. The purifying stream.
Luke 8.11-15 The Seed .
Psalm 19.10 Honey for healing & nourishment.
Jeremiah 23.29 The cleansing fire, the destructive force of the hammer.

Ephesians 6.17 urges every believer to take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Confessing the Word takes Faith, and you increase faith by hearing the Word. Faith is the alternative to living under the impulse of our feelings, or under the dominion of our circumstances.

Colossians 3.16. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly...............
